I have enjoyed theme music since my early days as a kid. The first theme I particularly remember was the main menu theme for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare by the legendary Hans Zimmer. The reason this was so influential was the large orchestral group the recorded made me want to play in band. The Battlefield 1942 Theme was also an important as it is one of the best themes in history as well as making me want to play the trombone.
I've listened to Smash Mouth since elementary school. My mother introduced me to their songs as well as hearing them within a popular animated movie, Shrek. My favorite of their songs was Walkin' on the Sun. Smash Mouth was what got me interest into music, especially more conventional genres.
This was the first jazz music I've heard (that I remember) and was the reason I like jazz and rock so much. As a younger kid, I mainly watched movies for their soundtrack rather than the movie itself. This was one of those movies that I listen to rather than watched. Along with this movie, I also enjoyed the soundtrack Ocean's Eleven (2001) which has a similar genre of music. These two soundtracks were the reason I found so much interest in jazz.
Andrew Spang was my Middle School band director at Folly Quarter Middle School. He was the reason I continued playing the trombone throughout its entire course. He also encouraged me to playing in the Jazz band and trombone choir which sparked my interest in creating jazz music.. He was the most influential person on my music career as he also played low brass instruments.
